Pierre the Pigeon-Hawk is an upcoming animated comedy film directed by John D. Eraklis and Tara Nicole Whitaker (in their feature directorial debuts) from a screenplay by Eraklis, and co-produced by Eraklis, Ciaran Crampton and Chase Muratore with a score by Zoë Poledouris and Angel Roché Jr. with Paul Blair serves as the music supervisor.[2] An international co-production between the United States, Ireland and China, the film features an all-star cast including the voices of will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson, Snoop Dogg (who both served as executive producers), Kenan Thompson, Whoopi Goldberg and Evan Ross, with Ciaran Crampton and Jay Dowski writing the film. Described as a musical animated adventure set in New York City, the film tells the story of Pierre, a young blue, mixed-breeded bird who is born to be a pigeon hawk, as he sets up on a journey of self-discovery with her best friends.

Plans for the animated film were first confirmed in March 2019 with John D. Eraklis would be directimh the film and Nick Cannon attached to star and executive produce the film, but it was later dropped out and was replaced with will.i.am. Toonz Media Group later announce in April 2020, that it came onboard to animate and produced the feature with Highland Film Group holding the film to international spider. Much of the cast were revealed between March 2019 and April 2021. Tara Nicole Walter later teamed up with Eraklis co-direct the film in August 2021. Poledouris and Roché Jr. are attached to score the film in April 2021.

Pierre the Pigeon-Hawk will be released theatrically in 2025.

Plot

Pierre is a young, blue bird that happens to be a pigeon hawk, a fictional mixed breed hybrid that can grew up to the outcast from both bird communities lead by a rebel hawk and a dreamer pigeon. She sets out on a new adventure and into a journey of self-discovery and he is befriending unlikely other animals: like a bear that is escaped from Central Park Zoo, Ophelia the brilliant but mad owl and two streetwise city squirrels called Scratch and Sniff. Pierre finds themselves to a place where he belongs and inspire animals from all backgrounds will be more open-minded in this epic, hybrid world.

On March 12, 2019, it was announced that Nick Cannon, Jennifer Coolidge, Kenan Thompson and Whoopi Goldberg would lend their voices to Pierre the Pigeon-Hawk, along with veteran voice actor E.G. Daily. In addition to the announcement of the voice cast, John D. Eraklis is set to direct and it marks the directorial debut of her. Exodus Film Group and Cannon’s Ncredible Entertainment banner were set to produce, alongside Ciaran Crampton and Chase Muratore of the New York City-based Sugar Water Entertainment. Michael Goldman was set to executive produce.[3]

On April 1, 2020, the film was announced that America’s Got Talent judge Howie Mandel, Luis Guzmán, Paul Blackthorne, Jamal Trulove, Evan Ross, and Ashlee Simpson is set to lead voice cast. The sxecutive producers of the film were Michael Goldman, Jamal Trulove and Delbert Whetter. The film is financed by Sugar Water Entertainment in partnership with Toonz Media Group, which was being produced and directed remotely and it was in pre-production at Toonz Media studio in New Zealand. Highland Film Group holds international sales to the film while CAA Media Finance saw the rights to the film for domestic sales.[4]

In April 2021, it was announced that will.i.am would be the voicing the character Pierre, instead of Nick Cannon, while Jennifer Hudson and Snoop Dogg added to the voice lead.[5] Paul Blair was added to it as the music supervisor, and Zoë Poledouris and Angel Roché Jr. would compose the film's score. The two have previously scored the feature films, Bunyan and Babe and The Hero of Color City, both of which were produced by Eraklis.[6]

In August 2021, Tara Nicole Whitaker is attached to direct the film, and it would also marks the directorial debut of the film as well.[7]

In May 2023, it was announced that Gold Valley Films have strike a six-picture deal with Toonz Feature Film, including Pierre the Pigeon-Hawk.[8]

Release

The film will be released theatrically in 2025.
