Comment: I think there needs to be more work on identifying the WP:SIGCOV that forms sustained commentary or discussion on Pomni as a character. Character article notability can be a bit fickle, but based on AFC and AFD elsewhere, the standard does seem to sit where reliable sources have discussed the character specifically in or outside context of their media. When you look at the sources here, they're not really directly about the subject. It's not enough to coalesce sources that say "there's Pomni merchandise" or "people dress up as Pomni" or "people make memes of Pomni", much as they're welcome parts of a character article. What are the best sources cited that discuss the character? Are there other sources of analysis out there? VRXCES (talk) 11:55, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
Comment: A number of unsourced statements and sections (Notably role and characteristics) and a number of dubious sources and trivial mentions used. I'm not seeing a lot of WP:SIGCOV which indicates why she is separately notable of her home material. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 00:53, 6 March 2026 (UTC)

Pomni is the protagonist of the Australian adult independent animated web series The Amazing Digital Circus by Glitch Productions, created and designed by Gooseworx. She is voiced by Lizzie Freeman, Pomni is a nervous and compassionate woman who is the most recent human to be trapped in the circus-themed virtual reality game through a VR headset.
Character and conception
[edit]Creation and design
[edit]Pomni was created and designed by Gooseworx, she alongside the main cast were designed under a week in mid to late 2022.[1][2] Originally when Gooseworx was doing the visual concepts for the series, Pomni's avatar was supposed to be a frog with a blue and black striped suit instead of a jester and was supposed to be called "Frogni".[‡ 1] Gooseworx at one time had considered Pomni and Jax's genders to be male and female respectively.[‡ 2] Pomni prior to the release of the first episode, went through a minor design change. In the series teaser, Pomni had a left red glove while her right glove was blue, this was changed after Kevin Temmer, the main animator of the series and junior animator at Blue Sky Studios suggested for the color of the gloves to be inverted to be the opposite of the shoes that had the same color and position (left red and right blue).[‡ 3]
Pomni's in-game avatar is a cartoon jester with with facial features resembling a mime, with black eyeliner eyes and a set of red and blue pinwheel imprint as her pupils, she has short, straight medium black hair and a jester hat with the combination of red and blue alongside her jumpsuit with the torso in a leotard-like design with short sleeves and short pant-leggings sprouting from the respective parts of the torso, both pairs circular.[3][4][5] She has additional yellow accents, being a pair of spheres on her front torso (which could resemble pom-poms or buttons), round shapes (which could resembles bands or comically large rings) around the ends of her sleeves, the hem of her torso right above her shorts, and the ends of her shorts.[3][4][5]
Role and characteristics
[edit]Pomni is 25 year old woman who is nervous but compassionate, she is the most recent human to be trapped in the circus as an in-game avatar as cartoon jester.[3][4][5] Prior to the circus, Pomni was an accountant for a supermarket chain and unwillingly entered the circus when she put on a VR headset while recording online Youtube videos of herself exploring abandoned buildings as a way to escape her boring job and as personal entertainment.[‡ 4] Pomni resides in a single bedroom of her own in "The Tent" in the circus within the circus. it is located nearby other humans with a drawing of her face on her door as a indicator of it being her room in a hallway of doors with the residence of the rest of the members of the circus.[‡ 5]
Role in The Amazing Digital Circus
[edit]
In the first episode, Pomni is trapped in The Amazing Digital Circus, meeting other humans who have been trapped in the circus. Pomni ends up forgetting her name, but Caine, the circus' artificial intelligence ringleader, decides to help and name her "Pomni". She asks for a way out of the circus and thinks she's dreaming.[6][7] Caine sets up an introductory adventure for Pomni but Jax brings her with him to check up on Kaufmo alongside Ragatha only to find him abstracted which leads him to run away. When Ragatha ends up being left at a glitched state by Kaufmo, Ragatha asks Pomni to ask Caine for help, she agrees, but upon seeing the exit door, ignores Ragatha's plea and tries to escape the circus, she passes through several doors until she reaches the digital void that alerts Caine, who rescues her from there and fixes Ragatha.[7] Afterwards, Caine has Pomni and the group eat the food from the circus, which makes Pomni realise that she is not dreaming and is in reality, stuck in the circus.[7]
In the fourth episode, Caine sends the group to a fast food restaurant themed adventure at Spudsy's, a burger joint. Pomni works as a cashier with Gangle in charge of the joint as a shift manager.[8] Gummigoo shows up to Spudsy's as a customer and Pomni delighted to see him alive, she attempts have a conversation with him, but he appears as an NPC with no memory.[8] Jax briefly interacts with Pomni and asks about her day in the restaurant in polite tone which surprises and confuses her. She tells him that the day is going fine while Jax tells her how awful the adventure is, then Gangle calls Jax to help her out and Jax leaves while politely saying "see you later" to Pomni, further confusing her. Later, upon witnessing Gangle going through a mental breakdown while taking out the garbage, Pomni asks Gangle to open up about her problems, but Gangle pretends she's okay. Later, Pomni notices Gangle's mental state worsening and takes her place to watch the restaurant close.[8]
In episode five, in the noir adventure at a bar, Pomni reveals to the group that she worked as an accountant at a supermarket chain and that she ended up in the circus due to getting bored from her job, she would seek mild thrills like exploring abandoned buildings and posting videos about it on Youtube with little viewership.[‡ 4] Jax apologies to Pomni for stressing her during the president adventure, explaining he did it as a joke.[‡ 4] Pomni accepts his apology and Jax befriends Pomni much to Ragatha's determent.[‡ 4] During the softball game, she tells Ragatha that it's fine to be a jerk sometimes and allows her to play in her place only for her team to abruptly win, before the adventure ends, Pomni sees Jax violently bite Evil Jax and laughs to the displeasure of Ragatha.[‡ 4] After they return to the circus, Jax shows Pomni something that's unknown to the audience.[‡ 4]
In episode six, Caine setups a gun adventure where the group is separated into teams of two with the goal of shooting each other's team till one team remains.[9] Pomni teams up with Jax but tells Jax that she'll be the one giving guns to Jax for him to shoot everyone since she doesn't want to hurt her friends.[‡ 6] Jax convinces Pomni to have the confidence to shoot her her opposing teammates to release all the anger since her arrival to the circus, he tells her about his world view of treating the group of being cartoon characters following their archetypes, with him declaring himself as the "funny" one.[‡ 6] Pomni responds by proclaiming that her archetype for the adventure is the "evil" one. Pomni and Jax manage to eliminate all of the opposing teammates besides Zooble, during this period, they start to bond further with Pomni enjoys being able to be chaotic and having fun with the adventure as well as learning more about Jax.[‡ 6] They sing Daisy Bell to annoy Zooble, but get attacked by gun shots from Zooble reducing the two to one health point, however Pomni and Jax eliminate Zooble from the adventure which leads to their victory.[10]
Merchandise
[edit]After the release of the pilot, Glitch Productions has an online store that sells clothing, accessories, and toys (such as plushies and commercialized figurines) of Pomni.[‡ 7] There are also been merchandise of Pomni such as a Nendoroid Figure, a Pop Up Parade figure and a various Pomni merchandise by Moose Toys.[11][12][13] With the success of the series, especially in Japan, they opened up a pop up store themed around the series, that sells merchandise of the series, there is also a large figurine of Pomni in the store, as well as a standee.[14][15][16]
Reception and cultural impact
[edit]
Following the premiere of The Amazing Digital Circus, Pomni has become a widespread internet phenomenon, with notable amounts of fan creations and memes.[17][18] One of the most notable memes is the "Pomni Dread Zoom‑In" meme: the final scene of the pilot, in which the camera zooms into Pomni's increasingly anxious expression, rapidly became a viral caption‑meme format across social media.[17][18] Costumes of Pomni was considered to be one of most popular and trending costumes for Halloween alongside Jax and Caine in 2024.[19][20][21] Pomni is the main protagonist of a manga adaptation of The Amazing Digital Circus, serialised in CoroCoro Comic and CoroCoro Ichiban! [jp] starting 12 October 2024.[22][23][24] Pomni is one of four playable characters in a 2025 racing web game titled Glitch Karts alongside a crossover between characters from other Glitch Production characters: Uzi from Murder Drones and Gwen from Knights of Guinevere.[25][26]
Pomni is often likened to Kobeni Higashiyama, a character from Chainsaw Man due to perceived similarities in their anxious and distressed personalities.[27][28] This parallel has led to a notable amount of crossover fan art featuring the characters paired together.[27][28]
In June 2026, Pomni was added as a skin into the video game Fortnite.[29]
