History

edit

Pondok Pesantren Tanbihul Ghofiliin was established in 1954 by K.H. Abd Bashor in response to the lack of religious understanding in the Banjarnegara community at that time. Initially, K.H. Abd Bashor founded a mushola that served not only as a place for worship but also as a center for developing Islamic thought to foster a civilized and morally upright society.

Over time, K.H. Abd Bashor, who had seven children (one daughter and six sons), encouraged his children to study at various pesantrens in Central Java, East Java, and even abroad.[4]

In 1960, Pondok Pesantren Tanbihul Ghofiliin was officially established by KH M. Basyuni (deceased) and his brother KH. Much. Hasan (deceased) after they had studied at various pesantrens in Tanggir, Lasem, and other regions in East and Central Java. The establishment of the pesantren began from scratch, and by 1964, the construction of Pondok Pesantren Tanbihul Ghofiliin commenced. The local community worked together to realize the pesantren, believing that both parents and children should engage in religious education.

Since then, Pondok Pesantren Tanbihul Ghofiliin has continued to grow, with an increasing number of students and expanding facilities. In the early years, the pesantren occupied a single building, with some students residing in the caretaker's home. By 1971, the facility had expanded to include two buildings used for learning and student accommodation. The educational system evolved from simply studying under Romo Kyai to a structured education system known as madrasah diniyyah.

From that time on, the pesantren was known as "Al Ma’had Wal Madrosah Ad Diniyyah Tanbihul Ghofiliin," reflecting its dual role as both a pesantren and madrasah diniyyah. Despite facing numerous challenges, KH. M. Basyuni continued his efforts until his death in 1997. Following his passing, KH. M. Hasan took over the leadership and significantly advanced the pesantren.

To anticipate further growth, KH. Muhammad Hasan (deceased) acquired a large and strategic piece of land adjacent to the sub-district office and police station for expansion. However, on December 25, 2007, after performing Umrah, KH. Muhammad Hasan passed away.[5] Leadership was then taken over by his son, KH. M. Chamzah Hasan, S.Pd.I, who, after completing his education and receiving blessings from his teachers, modernized the pesantren’s education system. By mid-2010, Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Tanbihul Ghofiliin was established, followed by Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Tanbihul Ghofilin in 2011. This education program adheres to the government curriculum and is based on the pesantren system.

KH. Muhammad Chamzah Hasan, S.Pd.I, who is also active in politics and serves as Chairman of the Banjarnegara Branch and Secretary of MSKP3I, continues to develop the pesantren with plans to establish higher educational institutions, such as universities, while maintaining the Salafiyah method. Pondok Pesantren Tanbihul Ghofiliin plays a significant role in education, Islamic propagation, and community development by improving both the spiritual and material quality of life in the surrounding community. As of early 2016, the pesantren houses approximately 1,385 students, including those who study religion only and those pursuing formal education. KH. Muhammad Chamzah Hasan remains committed to contributing to the development of an independent nation based on piety to Allah Swt.
