Pranysqa Mishra (born July 30, 2014) is an American-Canadian singer, songwriter, musician, and actress of Indian ancestry. Mishra began her musical career at the age of 2 and started performing professionally at age 6, singing the National anthem at major sporting events including the NBA, NHL, NFL, CFL, NCAA, and US Open. In 2024, she auditioned for America's Got Talent Season 19 and was awarded the Golden Buzzer.[1]by Judge Heidi Klum after her performance of "River Deep - Mountain High" by Tina Turner.[2][3]

Early Life and Background

Pranysqa Mishra was born on July 30, 2014, in New Jersey.[4] Her father, Pintu Mishra, is an professional in the IT industry, and her mother, Priyanka Mazumder, has a background in the hospitality sector. Pranysqa has a younger sister who also shares a love for the arts. From a very early age, Pranysqa's home was filled with the sounds of music, and she began singing at the tender age of 2, inspired by music videos on YouTube and deeply influenced by her father's passion for music.[5]

Her first public performance was rendition of "Into the Unknown" by Idina Menzel,[6][7] . By the age of 6, she performed national anthem, for Washington Wizards[8].[9] and subsequently for the Lakers, Marlins MLB, and NCAA.

At 7, Mishra was chosen to sing the Canadian national anthem for the entire season for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats[10]..[11] Her rendition went viral, leading to an invitation to perform for Doug Ford at the Canadian Budget Parliament meeting in 2021. The same year, she performed on the Tailgate Talent Show,[12] performing her original song, "The World is Beautiful," and becoming a semifinalist.

In 2022, Pranysqa's performance for the Miami Heat significant attention resulting her interviews with major media outlets like FOX,[13] NBC, GMA, and National post[14] . She was also awarded the Child star at Apollo Theater ,New York City[15], during their amateur night for her performances of "Listen" by Beyoncé and "And I Am Telling You" by Jennifer Hudson. Early in 2023, Mishra sang the national anthem for the Billie Jean King Cup, USA vs. Austria[16]. Later that year, she was selected to inaugurate the US Open 2023[17][18]at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York where her performance was praised by Billie Jean King[19] and actress Priyanka Chopra[20][21]

Americas Got Talent

Pranysqa Mishra's audition at America's Got Talent Season 19[22][23]was televised globally on July 2, 2024 following her audition in March 2024, Pasadena, Los Angeles, in March 2024. This 9-year-old singer, dressed in a stunning purple ruffled dress, delivered a performance of the Tina Turner song "River Deep - Mountain High."

The judges were astounded by her talent and stage presence. Heidi Klum,[24] in particular, was so impressed that she pressed the Golden Buzzer, propelling Pranysqa straight to the live shows. "Oh my gosh, I did not expect that. We expect a lot of things, but I did not expect that," Heidi Klum[25][26]exclaimed before awarding her the Golden Buzzer[27]. "I want you to call your grandmother and say that Heidi Klum[28][29]pushed the Golden Buzzer[30]r for you." This moment marked a significant milestone in burgeoning career, showcasing her as a musical prodigy to a global audience.[31]

Pranysqa Mishra's audition received an overwhelming response globally. The AGT judges[32] were stunned by her performance and gave a standing ovation, including host Terry Crews[33], who posted her video on social media, captioning it, "What a Voice." Howie Mandel[34] mentioned on Facebook, "Little girl with the biggest voice." Simon Cowell praised her, saying, "Really, really good."

Anand Mahindra, chairman of the Mahindra Group[35],[36] commented, "For the second time within the past two weeks, a young—VERY young—woman of Indian origin has rocked the stage at @AGT with raw talent that is simply astonishing. With skills acquired in indigenous American genres of music. Rock & Gospel. Pranysqa Mishra is just NINE years old. Damn, I had tears too when they called her grandmother."[37][38][39]

Grammy Award winner Darlene Love[40][41]expressed her admiration, stating, "Wow!!! I'm soooooo impressed! Would lovvvve to share the stage with you one day & perform this song that Phil Spector wrote for me that was given to Tina Turner." Singer Marissa Wallace praised Pranysqa, saying, "Truly an incredible performer.[42]" Femina Miss India also acknowledged Pranysqa, calling her an "Inspiration for young girls."[43]
