Priscilla Helena da Silva (Juiz de Fora, June 26, 1992), known as Pri Helena, is a Brazilian actress who has appeared in film, television and theater. Recognized for bringing intense characters to life, Pri is also the co-founder of Grilla!, an artistic collective whose main focus is to increase the role of women in audiovisuals, both on and off the stage.
Biography
editPri Helena was born in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, the daughter of Jaqueline Araújo Martins Vidal and Carlos Henrique da Silva and the granddaughter of Maria do Carmo Martins, her maternal grandmother, who had a strong influence on her upbringing, supporting her choice of artistic career right from the start [1]. As a teenager, Pri already showed an interest in theater, and later studied at the Martins Penna Theater School and the Laranjeiras House of Arts, graduating in Social Communication from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF). She also has a postgraduate degree in Performing Arts from Estácio de Sá University.
Career
editIn 2024, Pri Helena played Maria José “Zezé” in the film I'm Still Here, directed by Walter Salles[2]. The film was nominated for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and was awarded in the Best Screenplay category, and was chosen to represent Brazil at the Oscars 2025[3]. Pri Helena was at the Venice Film Festival for the film's international premiere.
Also in 2024, the actress made her debut as “Cacá” in the soap opera Volta por Cima [4]., aired by Rede Globo and is in the cast of the second season of the internationally awarded series Os Outros.
Her career began in the theater in 2008 and, since then, Pri Helena has acted in several theatrical shows, most notably “O Rinoceronte” (The Rhinoceros)[5], nominated for the Shell Award 2019, “Os Impostores” [6], “Nerium Park” [7] and “Before the Rain”. In audiovisual, she is in the feature film “Turvo”, directed by Murillo Sued [8], and Cabrito, by Luciano de Azevedo [9],. Her other works include the medium-length film “Cyclone” and the short films “Moscas Moscas Mortas”, ‘Trancinhas’, ‘Ondas’ and the latest, also released in 2024, ‘Cadê minha filha, Bob?’.On television, he took part in the soap opera Travessia and is now part of the cast of “Volta Por Cima” (both on Rede Globo). On the web, he is in the webseries “Desatando Nós”.
