Promise to America is an American centrist political organization founded in 2026. The group is known for their eponymous pledge, which opposes democratic socialism and reaffirms support for capitalism within the Democratic Party.
History
[edit]Promise to America was founded in 2026 by Felix Frisch, the son of Colorado politician Adam Frisch.[1] It was publicly launched during the 2026 WelcomeFest, a gathering of center-left Democrats, by U.S. representatives Tom Suozzi and Adam Gray, the only Democrats to flip Republican-held House seats won by Donald Trump in 2024.[1][2]
Frisch began working on the group's eponymous pledge after becoming "frustrated with the Democratic Party and where it was going". The pledge requires candidates to affirm that they an "orderly immigration system" and "safety, not lawlessness".[1] It also asks signatories to be "proud, not ashamed of America," and calls for "persuasion over purity, contempt, and cultural division."[1] During the launch of the pledge in June 2026, Suozzi declared that they "disagree with MAGA [and] disagree with socialists".[3]
Soon after Promise to America announced the candidate pledge, a number of sitting House Democrats announced they would sign, including Kristen McDonald Rivet, Susie Lee, Maggie Goodlander, Josh Gottheimer, Laura Gillen, Don Davis, Janelle Bynum, and Vicente Gonzalez. The pledge was also signed by a number of candidates running in competitive districts—Marlene Galán-Woods, Jamie Ager, Paul Barringer, Bobby Pulido and Jessica Killin.[3]
