Qamar Allahditta (Urdu: قمر اللہ دتہ), born on 16 August 1958 in Karachi, was a famous Pakistani musician, composer, and guitar teacher. Born into a musical family, Qamar Allahditta was inspired by his father, Eesa Allahditta, who was also a musician. His career spanned over two decades, during which he became a prominent figure in both classical and contemporary music.

He kicked off his career with Radio Pakistan, where he first got noticed as a skilled guitarist. This gig gave him the chance to work with legendary artists like Mehdi Hasan, Ghulam Ali, Abida Parveen, and Tina Sani. Those early days in the music scene helped shape his unique style and showed off his versatility as a musician. This exposure allowed him to develop a versatile style that blended Eastern and Western musical elements.

Over his career, Qamar teamed up with a bunch of artists in Pakistan’s pop music scene. He worked closely with big names like Sajjad Ali, Rahim Shah, and Fariha Pervez. One of his standout performances was on Rahim Shah’s hit track, “Pehlay Tau Kabhi Kabhi Gham Tha,” where he really showed off his talent.

Qamar Allahditta wasn’t just a performer; he was a big name in music production too. He worked on remixes for PTV’s tribute show, "Dekha Na Tha: A Tribute to Alamgir," rearranging songs for both fresh voices and seasoned singers. His show, "Diyar-e-Sukhan," earned high praise and even won a PTV award for its impact on music broadcasting.

Death

He was tragically found dead on October 4, 2012.[2] They found his dead body in the backseat of his car, shot multiple times in the head.[3] The reason behind his murder is still a mystery, though some suspect it was tied to gang violence in Lyari. His death sent shockwaves through the music community and left his fans in disbelief.[4] A large crowd came together at the Imambargah for his funeral, all paying their respects and honoring his memory.
