Queercraft[1] is a online video gaming community and Minecraft server, run by the non-profit Prism,[2] created to be a support network for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies.
Queercraft's influence also stretches beyond Minecraft by offering a Discord community for other video games, as well as hosting events such as a game night, Queercraft LIVE, and an annual meetup for community members.
History
editThe server was founded by Beau Hebert, (commonly known by his username, Beaupedia), on January 27, 2012. Since then, Queercraft has had approximately 90,000 unique members on its Minecraft server and 6,000 members on its Discord.
In 2022, in celebration of Pride month, Hebert participated in an interview with Mojang Studios, discussing the history of Queercraft and the future plans for the community. The article also contains information on the introductory process to the server and mentions the creation of Prism, the non-profit which owns the server, with the goal of creating an online safe haven for LGBTQ+ people.[3][4]
Queercraft was also one of the subjects of an article from May 2022 by Taimi, a social media and dating app for LGBTQ+ people.[5]
