Draft:Randal Milch

Randal S. Milch is an American Professor of Law at New York University School of Law, regarded as an expert in governance and regulatory affairs.

Milch graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in history in 1980 before graduating from New York University School of Law with a J.D. in 1985. He clerked for Chief Judge Emeritus Clement F. Haynsworth, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in 1985. After becoming an associate and then partner at Donovan, Leisure, Newton, and Irvine LLP, he then joined Bell Atlantic (now known as Verizon Communications), where he became Executive Vice President and General Counsel for the organization. Throughout his 21 year tenure at Verizon, Milch was instrumental in deregulating the telecommunications industry and oversaw natural security matters. He chaired the Verizon Executive Security Counsel, which focused on information security policies across all of Verizon. In 2014, Milch testified before the Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy, and Consumer Rights of the Committee on the Judiciary United States Senate in support of consumer privacy regulations in regard to the telecommunications industry.

Milch is currently a member of the Board of Directors of TextIQ, Analysis Group, and RiskQ. He is also the Chair of the Board of Equal Justice Works.

Milch is a Trustee of New York University School of Law. In addition, he is currently the Co-Chair of the NYU Center for Cybersecurity and Distinguished Fellow at the Reiss Center. He also serves as the Faculty Co-Director of the M.S. in Cybersecurity Risk and Strategy program.
