Rhadem Musawah, born Rhadem Camlian Morados on October 25, 1989 in Zamboanga City, hails from Basilan Island in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao. He is the son of Police Commander Senador Morados and Reserda Camlian, who is the daughter of the former regional director of Philippine Muslim Affairs, Sheikh Bahari Camlian. The Camlian family is well-known for their successful business ventures in western Mindanao and is closely related to Basilan Governor Asan Camlian, who served during martial law from 1975 to 1986. Additionally, his family are relatives of the founders and officials of the Moro freedom fighters, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

He is known for his work in promoting equality and advocating for the rights of the Moro people in Mindanao, instilled in him the values of compassion and justice from a young age.

Growing up, Musawah witnessed the effects of conflict and poverty in his homeland, which fueled his passion for social change and development. Musawah is actively involved in various social and humanitarian initiatives. He is a staunch advocate for peace and reconciliation, working closely with local government units, NGOs, and international organizations to promote dialogue and understanding among diverse communities in conflict-affected areas.

Rhadem began his career in the entertainment industry, studying advance motion picture production at the Asia Pacific Film Institute and working for major television networks such as ABS-CBN and TV5. However, in 2015, he decided to shift his focus towards humanitarian work and joined the , a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting peace education and providing support to victims of armed conflicts in Mindanao.

His experiences in the field led him to start documenting grassroots stories and advocating for the rights of marginalized communities. He currently serves as the Communications Director of MUJER LGBT+ Organization, a leading human rights organization in southern Mindanao. In addition, he works as a consultant for European Union member state diplomatic agencies in the Philippines and the United Nations on human rights and humanitarian programs.

Rhadem was awarded the Social Justice Hero Award by APCOM and Open Society Foundation in November 2023 in recognition of his dedication to social justice and human rights. Musawah's commitment to community development and empowerment has earned him recognition from the United Nations as one of the 2023 top 12 SOGI Defenders around the world.
