Richard Polsted (24 June 1545 – 31 March 1576) of Albury, Surrey, was an English politician.

Family

Richard was the son of parliamentarian Henry Polsted.^[1]

In November 1567 Richard married Elizabeth More of Loseley, the daughter of Sir William More.^[2] Their wedding was described as "the event of the year" by historian W. J. Jones, and was followed by festivities in Blackfriars lasting two weeks.^[3]

Career

Polsted served as a Member of Parliament for the constituency of Hinton in the 1571 and 1572 parliaments, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.^[1] In 1573, Polsted served as High Sheriff of Surrey and Sussex alongside John Rede.^[4]
