The Rike Park Music Theatre and Exhibition Hall (Georgian: რიყის მუსიკისა და დრამის თეატრი, romanized: riqis musik'isa da dramis teat'ri), commonly known as the Rike Tubes (Georgian: რიყის დოქები, romanized: riqis dokebi, lit. 'Rike jugs'), was a planned arts complex in Tbilisi, Georgia. Designed by Fuksas Studio and constructed in 2011–2012, the modernist complex was never fully completed or opened. In July 2026, demolition work began on the complex, after an approval from the municipal government the previous month.[2]
Architecture
[edit]Architect Massimiliano Fuksas first visited Georgia in the 1980s, and was the architect behind Tbilisi's Public Service Hall.[3] The complex consists of two tubular structures that share a retaining wall. One of the tubes was built to house an auditorium with a capacity of 556, while the other was intended to serve as an exhibition hall.[1]
With its modernist style, it was regarded as a symbol of Georgia's pro-European position of then-president Mikheil Saakashvili.[2] Designboom included the complex in its list of the top 10 cultural buildings of 2016.[4]
