Rimicaris exoculata is a species of deep-sea shrimp in the family Alvinocarididae. They are found at high densities in the Mid-Atlantic Ridge hydrothermal vent system. (cite?) They are medium-sized shrimp, growing 4–5 centimetres (1.6–2.0 in) in length. ! CITE NEEDED!! which source!?

edit- If dislodged from their place, they quickly return back to the ground (quote source "substratum") [1] and to the fluids from the chimney [1]
- They cluster around holes in the chimney which let out the hot fluids [1]
- Appear to need these holes/cracks: quote source 1
the availability of a substratum exposed to the flow of hydrothermal fluids appears to be a prerequisite for the development of these dense aggregations
(need to SUMMARIZE no quote)
- Appear to need these holes/cracks: quote source 1
- They cluster around holes in the chimney which let out the hot fluids [1]
- More picky about temperature than Pompei worms (Alvinella pompejana)
