Romalyn Pusikit Ante FRSL (born January 1989) is a Filipino-British poet and essayist.
Early life
editAnte was born in Lipa, Batangas[1] during her hometown's fiesta of San Sebastian. In 2005 at age 16, she joined her mother, an NHS nurse, in Wolverhampton, England.[2] After completing secondary school, Ante qualified as a nurse practitioner.[3]
Career
editShe is co-founding editor of harana poetry. Ante's debut collection, Antiemetic for Homesickness (Chatto & Windus), was shortlisted for the 2021 Jhalak_Prize and longlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize. It was named amongst Best Poetry Books of the Year 2020 by The Poetry School and Irish Times. Her honors include the Poetry London Prize, Manchester Poetry Prize, Society of Author's Foundation Award, and Creative Future Literary Award. Her debut pamphlet, Rice & Rain (V Press), received the 2018 Saboteur Award for Best Poetry Pamphlet.
Her work has been featured in BBC World News, World Literature Today, BBC Radio 4, Harper's Bazaar, British Vogue, Southbank Center, Book Week Scotland, Birmingham Literature Festival, and Verve Poetry Festival.
In 2023, Ante was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.[4]
