Draft:Salford Youth Council

Salford Youth Council is a group of 11-21 year olds who represent the voice of young people in Salford. As a group, the young people work on campaigns which matter to young people, and are consulted on issues which effect young people.[1] Previously, the SYC has worked in collaboration with Salford City Council and The University of Salford.

Elections are held every two years to elect a Young Mayor and two members of the UK Youth Parliament, these elections are held in schools and on an online form. The Youth Council has multiple representatives, these include a representative for Transport, Culture Media and Sport, and Healthy Relationships. The Salford Youth Council has participated in the development of the Bee Network and the Manchester Baccalaureate.

The group provide two members of Youth Parliament as well as two members to the youth wing of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

The Salford Youth Council has no political affiliation.
