Sam Ovens is a serial entrepreneur from Auckland, New Zealand. He quit his corporate job to pursue entrepreneurship while living in his parent's garage.[1] His early ventures include businesses that failed such as a reverse job board.[2] His first big success was Consulting.com, which is an online education company that teaches how people can start and grow their consulting businesses. Currently he is a co-founder & CEO of a company called Skool, an online commmunity platform. He is known for his digital marketing expertise and online business training programs. He is married to Asleigh Ovens.[3]

Consulting.com

In 2012, Ovens founded what would eventually become Consulting.com. The company began as a digital consulting business but evolved into an online education platform. The platform's program "Consulting Accelerator" teaches students how to start and scale a consulting business. By 2016, Ovens had relocated to New York City to expand his business operations. Consulting.com has trained over 10,000 students across multiple countries.[1]

Skool.com is a community-driven learning platform that Sam Ovens co-founded together with Daniel Kang[6] in July 2019. The platform combines elements of social networking with structured learning environments, aimed for entrepreneurs, creators, and online course providers. Users can create and manage their own communities, where they can host courses, facilitate discussions, and build engaged learning networks. The platform's architecture emphasizes peer-to-peer learning and community engagement through features such as posts, live streams, and course modules. Competitors of Skool platform include for example Discord, Kajabi, and Udemy. One aspect of Skool is its focus on enabling community creators to monetize their expertise and build subscription-based communities. The platform integrates modern social media elements like notifications, instant messaging, and posts with traditional online learning functionalities. While initially targeting the entrepreneurship, finance, and business education sectors, Skool now offers over 20 categories of communities.

The Skool Games

The Skool Games is a monthly challenge on the Skool.com platform hosted by Alex Hormozi.[7] 54.1% of creators who start a paid community in The Skool Games make money and the top 10 participants created $663,479 of monthly recurring revenue in September 2024.[8] Over 21,000 members took part in The Skool Games in October 2024 to win one of the top 10 prizes.
