Mullah Samiullah Mewand (Pashto: ملا سمیعالله میوند; also transliterated as Samiullah Maiwand or Samiullah Maywand) was an Afghan Taliban commander reported to have been killed in Kabul in February 2023.
Biography
[edit]Samiullah Mewand was reported by Afghan media as a Taliban commander from Chak District, Wardak Province, Afghanistan.
According to reports, he was killed during an attack in the Karte Naw area of Kabul in February 2023. Reports attributed claims of responsibility for the attack to Islamic State – Khorasan Province (ISKP).
Death
[edit]In February 2023, reports stated that Mewand was killed in an attack targeting Taliban members in Kabul. The circumstances of his death were reported by Afghan media outlets.[1]
