Sanaysay ng Taon (Filipino language for "Essay of the Year")

The longest-running state-run scholarly essay competition in the Philippines. It was initiated by the Surian ng Wikang Pambansa (Institute of National Language) which later became the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (Commission on the Filipino Language). The prize is also known as Gawad KWF sa Sanaysay, was also previously called Gawad Surian sa Sanaysay-Gantimpalang Collantes. First prize winners are given the title Mananaysay ng Taon (Essayist of the Year).

Past Mananaysay ng Taon awardees include Reuel Aguila (2007), Bayani N. Santos (2008), David Michael San Juan (2009), Mon Karlo Mangaran (2010), Eugene Evasco (2020), Jonathan Geronimo (2021), Precioso Dahe (2022), Mark Anthony Angeles (2023), and Nell Buenaventura (2024).
