Sarah Jane Justice is an Australian poet, musician and author.

Early life

Justice was born in Newcastle.[1]

Career

Starting her creative career as a musician and songwriter, Justice spent some time touring with ska band Rubix Cuba [2]. After moving across the country to Adelaide, she performed as a solo artist. Under the moniker The Lonely Kids, Justice released multiple recordings and producing a one-woman show at the 2016 Adelaide Fringe Festival. [3] [4]

In 2016, Justice shifted her focus to spoken word poetry. She was the South Australian State Champion in the 2018 Australian Poetry Slam, which took her to compete at the Sydney Opera House in the competition's National Final that year [5]. Between 2017-2021, Justice won numerous other slam poetry competition titles, including the prestigious Goolwa Poetry Cup [6]. [7].

Justice's written poetry and short fiction have taken many forms, notably being curated into the ekphrastic poetry/photography exhibition Cracks in our Shadows [8].

She currently acts as co-director of Spoken Word SA, where she mentors young poets, hosts poetry slams, and facilitates workshops and tother poetry programs. [9]. [10].
