Sergey Tsikalyuk (Sergei Tsikalyuk, Russian: Сергей Алексеевич Цикалюк, born 1 March 1959) is a Russian businessperson who is the founder, beneficial owner and chair of the board of VSK,[1] one of Russia's commercial providers of multi-line insurance services.[2] From 2011 through 2016, Forbes included Tsikalyuk into the Top 200 list of Russia's richest businesspersons (ranked 96th in 2012). In 2014, his fortune was estimated in Forbes list of the world's billionaires at $1.0 billion.[3]
Early life
editTsikalyuk was born in Khoe village, Sakhalin Oblast, Russia.
In the early 1990s, he graduated from the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, underwent professional training as an insurer in Germany and headed the Danko insurance company in Russia.
Career
editIn February 1992, Tsikalyuk founded VSK Insurance company and headed it as the director general. Since 2007, he has been the chair of its board.[4]
In 2004, Tsikalyuk signed the professional activity ethical code proposed by the All-Russian Union of Insurers.[5]
In August 2017, he was elected as a board member of SAFMAR Financial Investments being a part of SAFMAR Group, and later Tsikalyuk was appointed to the SAFMAR Financial Investments strategy and risk management committee.[6] SAFMAR Financial Investments is currently known as SFI Investment Holding[7] (Russian: ЭсЭфАй) , which owns 49% of VSK insurance.[8]
From 2021 through 2022, he served as a director at Europlan car leasing company in Russia.[9]
Assets
editTsikalyuk's main asset is VSK Insurance (Russian: ВСК), one of the largest private insurance companies in Russia ranked 5th by net written non-life premiums value in 2023..[10] The company offers car and home insurance, life and health, travel, cargo, marine and aerospace insurance services[2]
Awards and titles
editIn 1996, the Russian Biographical Institute granted the Person of the Year award to Tsikalyuk.
Russian president awarded Tsikalyuk with the Order of Alexander Nevsky in May 2017.[11]
In December 2020, he was named the Businessman of the Year at the SPEAR'S Russia Wealth Management Awards.[12]
Hobbies
editTsikalyuk has a hobby of hiking and fishing trips to unpopulated areas of Siberia and the Russian Far East. Hе caught a 14 kg pike in 2014 on the Yamal peninsular in Russia.[13]
