Shota Shalelashvili (Georgian: შოთა შალელაშვილი, 19 June 1959) is a Georgian politician, engineer and businessman.[1] Member of the parliament of the 9th convocation of Georgia. chairman of the "Generations for Georgia" (Georgian: თაობები საქართველოსთვის, romanized: taobebi sakartvelostvis) party since 2023.

Biography

He graduated the Moscow Food Industry Technological Institute in 1987. In 1976-1978, he was a soviet worker in Samtredia. 1984–1985 -The head of the Bakunin food processing plant workshop; In 1985-1987, worked as an engineer-technologist of Samtredia canning manufacture; In 1987 - 1989, the deputy chairman of Samtredia Raicooperative.

The Positions of director and founder

In 1989-1991, he held the chairman position of the association “Georgia" in Samtredia . In 1991-1993, he was the vice-president of the Moscow Commercial Bank “Progress Bank”. Since 1993, he held the position of director in various companies:

  • 1993–1995 — multi-sectoral company „Sofa“;
  • 1995–1999 — Company „Inter”.
  • 2000–2002 — „Dagrego”.
  • 2002–2005 — „Opalli” LLC.
  • 2005–2009 — ,,Transservice”.
  • 2009–2014 — ,,Santrea” LLC.
  • 2014–2015 — ,,Sauvignion” LLC.

In 2016-2019, he was on the party list of the 9th convocation of the Parliament of Georgia, electoral bloc: “Georgian Dream”. He was a member of the “Georgian Dream” fraction, The Foreign Relations Committee and the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee.

In the last period of his parliamentary activity, he made critical statements towards a certain part of the parliamentary majority. Before that, he criticized then chairman Irakli Kobakhidze and said that “the chairman of the parliament had to change his relationship with the deputies [2].In March 2019, he left the “Industrialists” fraction and joined the “Georgian Dream” fraction after several deputies left the ruling team due to disagreement over the selection of the Supreme Court judges.

On September 10, he appealed to the Parliament about the termination of his authority and cited “entrepreneurial activity” as the reason. [2]

On May 21,2023 he founded PUOC “Generations for Georgia” and announced that he was intending to participate in the 2024 parliamentary elections[3]
