The Siege of Carthage is a siege took place in 536 BC between the Stotzas and Vandalic (African Kingdom) rebels against the Byzantine Empire a year after conquering the Praetorian African Prefecture in attempt to separate Africa.The Siege of Carthage took place in Northern Africa in the City of Carthage (Now part of Tunis, Tunisia) at the year 536, this siege evolves Stotzas rebels with them having 8,000 men, 1,000 Vandal Soldiers and many escaped slaves against the Byzantine Empire led by the Military General Belisarius with an outnumbered units (approx. 2,000) coming from the island of Sicily. Belisarius and the Byzantines emerged victorious with the Stotzas rebels surrendering fleeing to the Bagradas River. where they we're also defeated by the Byzantines and fled to Numidia.

Stotzas came from Mauretania located in Praetorian African Prefecture occupying regions of Northern Algeria and Morocco in somewhere 530's. The state was conquered by the Byzantines in March 534 starting it's occupation on September 533. The Stotzas united to separate Praetorian African Prefecture beginning it's occupation on Northern Tunisia and Algeria.[citation needed]
During Siege
They started to to occupy the Praetorian prefecture of Africa (Byzantine Empire's Administrative Division/Region) marching all the way to Carthage, in a fail attempt to pass through Belisarius, they failed to conquer Carthage and then pushed by Belisarius' army to the Bagradas River (Now Oued Medjerda or Medjerda River). Where the Battle of Bagradas River occured. After this battle, the group got defeated by Belisarius returning to Numidia to reunite.[citation needed]
