The Sleep Company (legally Comfort Grid Technologies Private Limited) is an Indian consumer goods company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The company sells sleep and comfort products built around a proprietary patented material called SmartGRID, a hyperelastic polymer developed for pressure-adaptive applications. It was founded in 2019 by Priyanka Salot and Harshil Salot, both alumni of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.[1]
History
[edit]Priyanka Salot and Harshil Salot founded The Sleep Company in 2019, initially selling mattresses through an online direct-to-consumer channel. The company's products were built around SmartGRID, a hyperelastic polymer developed in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).[1]
In 2021, the company received ₹13.4 crore in pre-Series A funding, with Fireside Ventures as the lead investor.[2]
The company's first physical store opened in Bengaluru in 2022. Later that year, Premji Invest led a Series B funding round of ₹177 crore.[3]
In December 2023, Premji Invest and Fireside Ventures jointly led a Series C round of ₹184 crore. The company stated at the time that it planned to open between 250 and 300 stores over the following three years.[4]
By fiscal year 2024, the company reported revenue of ₹312 crore and had opened more than 100 stores across 25 cities.[5] In July 2024, the company reported an annualised revenue run-rate exceeding ₹500 crore.[6]
In August 2025, ChrysCapital and 360 ONE Asset led a Series D round raising ₹480 crore. The company's revenue for fiscal year 2025 was reported at ₹499 crore, approximately 60 percent higher than the previous year.[7]
Products
[edit]The Sleep Company's product range includes mattresses, pillows, bed frames, recliner sofas, and ergonomic office and gaming chairs. All products incorporate SmartGRID, a patented hyperelastic polymer designed to adjust to body weight and sitting or sleeping posture.[1] In 2024, the company expanded into the ergonomic seating category with a line of SmartGRID-branded chairs.[5]
Operations
[edit]The Sleep Company sells products through its own e-commerce website and company-owned physical stores.[5] Its first store opened in Bengaluru in 2022. By 2025, the company had opened 150 stores across India, with its 150th store opening in Mumbai.[7]
