Spax International (stylized SPAX International) is a fastening technology company based in Ennepetal, Germany. It belongs to the holding company of the Altenloh, Brinck & Co Group (ABC) and is the manufacturer of Spax brand screws. As particle board screws for which pre-drilling is no longer necessary, they were introduced to the European market in 1967 under the brand name ABC-SPAX. Spax International and American sister company Altenloh, Brinck & Co. US in Bryan, Ohio, together produce around 10 billion screws a year.[3]
History
editSpax International was created in 2008 from the renaming of the predecessor company ABC Verbindungstechnik GmbH & Co. KG. The Fastening Technology division had been spun off from ABC in 2003 and placed as an independent company under the umbrella of the Altenloh, Brinck & Co Group, which now functions as a holding company. The reason for the later renaming was an increasing awareness of the need for targeted brand management, with the aim of transferring the well-known brand name Spax to the company itself and to other fastening technology products.[4]
Production and sales
editSpax International manufactures at two sites in Ennepetal and Gevelsberg, Germany. The Spax sales companies in Spain, France, Poland, UK, Sweden and Australia belong to the parent company ABC.[1]
