Speed (title style as SPEED),[1][2] is a brand of energy drinks created and owned by the Bangladeshi company Akij Food & Beverage Limited (AFBL).[3] The beverage brand is also called as Speed Hebby Energy.[4] It is won 'Bangladesh Band Forum Best Band Award' three times for Best carbonated beverage in Bangladesh.[5]
History
editThe brand was launched in 2006 by Akij Group's sister project Akij Food & Beverage Limited (AFBL).[6] It won Bangladesh Band Forum Best Band Award for Best carbonated beverage category. It has been exported to products in 36 countries,[7] it is presently being sold in the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Bahrain, Qatar, and Dubai etc.[8]
In 2021, "Speed" official facebook page name changed to "Speed Bangladesh".[9]

Legal issues
editIn 2022, Speed Energy Drink Beverage Company "Akij Food & Beverage Limited" is not paying Speed sales revenue National Board of Revenue (NBR) despite the court order. The National Board of Revenue has frozen the bank accounts of Akij Group for non-payment of dues despite repeated legal notices.[11]
In 2024, allegations of possession of drug ingredients, narcotics, fake license, sexual aphrodisiac Viagra ingredients were found in beverages like Speed, Royal Tiger, Black Horse, Bulldozer, Power, Guru, Gear, Strong etc. Later, the samples of Speed, Royal Tiger, Black Horse, Bulldozer, Power etc. were collected and tested in the labs of Drug Control Department and Drug Administration Department and drug ingredients, narcotics, fake license, sexual aphrodisiac Viagra ingredients was not found in these beverages and these brands are licensed as carbonated beverages from Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) following due process.[12][13]
Game
editFrom October 10, 2023 to November 8, 2023, Akij Group's beverage product 'Speed Energy Drinks' launched a money-winning game title as 'Speed Lakh Takar Hebby'. By playing this game anyone can win 1 lakh tk per day.[14]
In November 2024, the campaign "Speed Reels Challenge" is organized by courtesy of "Speed Ginger" and "Speed Green Apple" cans. There are attractive prizes for the participants of this reels challenge.[15]
