"Stan Dark Art," Stanislav Krawczyk, is a visual artist, whose work has been exhibited internationally over 50 times. He has collaborated with musical acts, especially within the metal community, where he has earned a large following.[1][2][3]
Early Life
editKrawczyk was born in Mykolaiv, Ukraine[4]. His ancestry, however, is Polish. He copes with cerebral palsy and therefore spent much of his time in hospitals while growing up. Krawczyk's condition would affect both his chosen artistic style and content.
In Ukraine, Krawczyk eventually received a classical art education, though he kept his dark art to himself.
Krawczyk would eventually move to Los Angeles, where he found success.[5]
Biography
editKrawczyk's creations have been exhibited in a long list of countries and beside the works by H.R. Giger, Paul Booth, Vincent Castiglia, and many others. In addition to his dark art, Krawczyk likewise creates erotic art. He has done so ever since a gallery in Zürich contacted him requesting such an exhibition. His erotic portraits have been featured in Playboy Ukraine.[6]
Also specializing in album art, Krawczyk has partnered with extreme music bands. Notably, Krawczyk has collaborated with the US-based, pioneering musician Xasthur. He also created the cover for Bardo Exist (2020) by the legendary Finnish band Beherit.
Krawczyk's book, Sketches of Pain, was released in 2020 with the support of the revered Thomas Negovan. In the foreword, the celebrated Chet Zar referred to Krawczyk as "one of the most important artists of our time."[7]
In addition, Krawczyk and the prolific Christophe Szpajdel, who has designed thousands of logos, created a joint book, Archaic Modernism, which also came out in 2020.[8]
In 2024, a publication focusing on extreme metal for which Stan provided the cover, Vampire Zine: The Dark Voice of Underground, was honored at the Norwegian, Finnish, Danish, Swedish, and Polish Embassies in Chile.[9][10]
