- Comment: Several reason has not been addressed yet. So many declines. And least notable on WP:MUSICBIO per my research on getting few sources (unreliable). ☮️Counter-Strike:Mention 269🕉️(🗨️ ● ✉️ ● 📔) 06:49, 22 August 2024 (UTC)

- Comment: Coverage seems to reflect that of a non-notable hobby band. I am assuming no charting singles/albums? PK650 (talk) 10:28, 25 August 2023 (UTC)

Sun Junkies is a Canadian indie rock band from Brantford, Ontario. The band consists of Noah Carmichael (lead vocals), Issa Mohammad (bass), Nick Stacy (drums, percussion), and Ethan Silver (guitar).[1] The band was started in 2016 by Carmichael as a high school junior, eventually coming to compose of the current lineup in 2018.[2]
History
editCarmichael developed the idea for Sun Junkies as a junior in high school in 2016, playing with anyone available until securing Stacy on drums. Mohammad had recently moved back to Brantford after living out of town, who then introduced the others to Silver to form their current consistent lineup.[3]
Sun Junkies released their first singles I'm Only Stupid Cuz My Parents Gave Me Pills and 519 (Reprise) in 2018, then releasing Sometimes and MDMA in 2019 which would be included in their debut album Technicolor Daydream of the same year. The band would go dark with new music up until the release of their EP Unconventional Methods of Transportation, two years later in 2021.[4]
In November of 2022, the band gained attention for opening for Australian rock group Skegss after previous opener Sir Chloe had to cancel.[5][6]
After the release of Transportation, Sun Junkies released several singles, three of which in 2023 which would be featured on their sophomore album Parachuting, which was released in October of that same year.[7] The album was debuted with a sold-out release show at the Horseshoe Tavern, supported by other local bands.[8] Parachuting is the band's longest record to date, with 15 songs.[9]
As of May of 2024, the band is currently committed to their 2nd U.S. tour and is working on future releases.[10]
Side Projects
editMembers Issa Mohammad and Noah Carmichael co-founded the not-for-profit record label Bummer Records in 2020 as a means of providing local artists a platform to get their music published and heard by wider audiences. Originally intended just a means to distribute music, in 2022 they began hosting shows at local Brantford dive bar Two Doors Down. Many locals and fans consider Bummer and their shows as a spiritual successor to The Ford Plant[11], another local venue and record label which closed its doors in 2013.[12]
Bummer also hosts the annual music festival GNARFest since 2022. The festival has hosted over 20 artists, with shows occurring at Two Doors Down and a local skate park at Brant's Crossing Park.[13] Notable bands include Pkew pkew pkew, Single Mothers, Status/Non-Status, The Dirty Nil, Rikashay, Sun Junkies, Strawberry Cough, among others.[14] 2023's GNARFest was headlined by Metz and Daniel Romano, with support from both artists that had preformed the year prior and new, including bands Born Ruffians and Little Junior.
Several members of Sun Junkies perform in other bands, such as Silver occasionally performing with fellow Brantford band Miss Mae.
