Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. Tawhid is a muslim lifestyle and community chat app, founded by Canada-based tech entrepreneur Hasnain Baloach and developed by Muslim Solutions Network.[1] It operates on a monthly subscription-based model, and allows its users to chat with other muslims [2] and create goals for themselves from a list of customizable tasks.[3] A percentage of the subscription fee is donated to a charity of the users' choice upon completion of their designated tasks.[4]
Tawhid was launched for iOS and Android on March 1st, 2024. It is based in Alberta, Canada.[5]
History
editIn August, 2022 Hasnain Baloach, working as a startup coach in Calgary, conceptualized Tawhid based on his own personal experiences of navigating his religious beliefs in a western-secular environment.
Baloach started reaching out to Muslims all across North America and the UK to assess the barriers and challenges they face in practicing Islam.
In December, 2022 a team of volunteers including Max Pabia, a UI/UX designer based out of Calgary who himself had converted to Islam, started designing the first version of the app.
The first insider tests were conducted in January 2023, with further developments leading up to August of 2023. Tawhid's first Beta was completed in February 2024.
Tawhid partnered with local and national charities around Canada and Muslim Students Associations from Canada and United States, to give users the choice to pick a cause of their choice to donate to. [2]
Release
editTawhid was publicly made available as a Beta, on iOS and Android on March 01, 2024. The final version is slated to be released in the 3rd quarter of 2024, with a release date yet to be announced.
Features
editTawhid operates on a subscription-based model, with users paying a monthly fee, which is donated to charity of the users' choice within the app, upon completing designated tasks. [3] The app incorporates reminders and tasks that the user may set for themselves, including daily prayers (salah) and fasting (sawm), alongside other different categories including Quran and Sunnah.
Along with that, Tawhid also offers a Chat feature, encouraging its users to connect, help and motivate each other.
