Telecom Infrastructure Partners (TIP) is a London-based company founded in 2021 specializing in the global lease aggregation market, primarily targeting investments in telecommunications and digital infrastructure across Europe, Asia and Latin America. TIP's focuses on acquiring lease agreements from individual land owners, invests in purchasing telecommunications infrastructure rental contracts from the owners, providing up-front cash payout and professionally manages the leases.[1]
In 2023, Swiss Life Asset Managers completed the acquisition of a co-controlling equity stake in TIP, joining InfraBridge as key investors. The deal, initially announced in January, includes new equity commitments from Swiss Life Asset Managers aimed at accelerating TIP's platform expansion and supporting its next phase of growth.[2]
Telecom Infrastructure Partners was founded by Eric Overman,[3] an experienced international corporate, tax, and structured finance lawyer. Overman graduated from Georgetown’s Joint JD/MSFS program and pioneered U.S.-style mobile site lease investing internationally. He founded Wireless Infrastructure Partners, LLC in 2009 and attracted Associated Partners as an investor in 2010. Under the name AP Wireless Infrastructure Partners, they invested in over 6,000 sites in 20 countries.[4]
Mission
editHistorically, telecommunications operators invested directly in their passive infrastructure. However, they began to recognize that their core competencies were in delivering telecom services rather than managing physical assets.[5] This realization led to a strategic shift where companies sought to monetize their infrastructure by selling or leasing tower space to multiple tenants.[6] This not only optimized asset utilization but also created new revenue streams. Telecom Infrastructure Partners emerged in this context, focusing on the acquisition and management of passive infrastructure assets. TIP's strategy involves purchasing and optimizing these assets, which are then leased to telecom operators. This model allows telecom operators to maintain control over service delivery while outsourcing the management of infrastructure to specialized firms.[7]
Countries of operation
editTIP currently operates in 17, countries across Europe, Latin America, and Asia: Chile, Peru, Colombia, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, South Korea, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
