Draft:Temeljko Barjaktarovic

Temeljko Barjaktarović (Serbian Cyrillic; Bašino Selo, 1882 — Thessaloniki Front, 1918 [1]) was a Serbian Chetnik duke in Old Serbia at the time of the fight against Turks and their allies for the emancipation of Macedonia at the beginning of the 20th century.

Biography

edit

He was born in Bašino Selo near Veles, he was a member of the VMRO until 1903. After the Ilinden Uprising, he was disappointed by the organization's treatment of his village, which was predominantly Serbian, and as a Serb he approached the Serbian Chetnik Organization. He became a Chetnik duke in 1904 and was active in the Kumanovo area. In 1907, he was sent by the Serbian Defense to form a company in Tavor. The company had the important task of protecting the Serbian patriarchal villages of Pašandžikovo, Kožlje, Novo Selo and R'žaničino on the left and Bashino Selo and Rudnik on the right side of Vardar from the attacks of the VMRO company. The strategic position of this region was extremely important since, in addition to the Babuna gorges, it represented the only possible communication for both Serbian and VMRO companies.

Barjaktarović participated in both the Balkan Wars and the First World War. He died on the Thessaloniki front in 1918.
