The Bonanza Farming Game is a german-style [1]multi-player board game first produced in 2023. It incorporates elements from both Monopoly and The Farming Game. The point of the game is to buy out the other players farms, and not to get brought out yourself. Throughout the game you progress from working a small-time family farming to being a big agricultural businessmen.
Rules
In The Bonanza Farming Game, you start off working on the family farm. Then you must sell it and move elsewhere. However, you may stay on the family farm for your first few turns, (up to 6) while you make it ready for sale and add value to it. You can do this the same way as you add value to your real farm in the game. Thus, if you take this option, you lose a few turns but make more money from the sale of the farm for you to start off with. When you sell it, you roll a die and start moving around the spaces on the board, all of which contain a farming-related occurrence which may result in a loss/gain of money. Some of the spaces may ask you to draw a 'farming luck' card. These are cards which have a good or bad occurrence on them which may effect other players. Examples include "Government bans [2] and fruit worms go wild. Cut fruit harvests in half. Hold this card throughout the year." and "Your Uncle Joe dies. In his will he leaves you some of his farm. Add any land section to your farm if you can meet the $2,500 mortgage due, and miss a turn to go to his funeral. If all land sections are taken, you may take one from the player of your choice, but they can keep the crops they have on that land". A full lap arounnd the board is a year, which is divided up into seasons. Along the year there are harvests at the appropriate times. If you miss a harvest, then you will not receive any payment for that crop that year.
Harvest Times
In the Bonanza Farming Game, there are harvests in every season except Winter. Winter is the only time of the year that you may buy new crops or equipment or anything else. You may harvest, in this order, along the board: Fish, Hay, Strawberries, Wheat, Garden Crops, Apples, Hay, Corn, Potatoes. When ever you land on a space that has one of these crop names written on it, you draw a card from the 'Harvest' pile. This card will have a number and an operating expense on it. Take a look at the table provided in the game and see what you get. The table is actually a chart containing several graphs- one for each crop. The graphs are labelled clearly. If you own a 20-acre section of plains land and are growing corn on it, then go to 'grain' and find the 'plains' land type category on the left hand side. Then go across until you find the box under your number on the card you drew. Multiply the amount in the box by however many groups of 10 acres you're harvesting.
Livestock
There are 3 parts of the year that relate to livestock. 1 is in the spring, 1 is in the summer, and 1 is in the Autumn. There is also a time of the year when you kill any pigs, but that is a different case (See Half-Section crops for more). You may 'harvest' livestock on the same turn as you harvest a crop. If you miss your livestock spaces, then you do not receive payment for your livestock that year. Your livestock are cattle. You can sell the milk in the spring, sell the calves in the autumn (after they've grown up a little) and sell beef cattle in the autumn. You find the profits for these harvests in the same way as crops, on the chart, except you replace 10 acres with 20 head of cattle, and the land type with the harvest type. When you do not collect profit from any harvest, including crops, then you will also not pay an operating expense (unless otherwise specified).
Budgeting
You make a budget at the end of every year. Your budget is a list of the expenses that you will encounter next year, subtracting your garden crop and half-section crop harvests. Your budget should not include operating expenses, new purchases, and Farming Luck cards. The kinds of expenses that you should include on this budget are: Cost of upkeep for you, your wife, your children, and any Pedroes (see Workers), as well as your bank fees, your transportation fees, the food bill, and other, possible expenses, such as fuel. You cross off your profits from garden or half-section crops from your budget if you do not receive them.
Houses
When you begin farming, you must have a place to live. You have 2 choices. You can either pay rent 00:05, 29 August 2023 (UTC), in which case you pay $3500 per turn, for up to 6 turns, after which you must build a house, or you can just build a house straight off. To build a house, you have to pay $
