Thomas Astruc (born January 18, 1975) is a French director and writer. He is best known for creating the animated series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, which spawned a multimedia franchise and has become highly successful. He is also responsible for most of the show's writing.
Biography
[edit]While working at W.I.T.C.H., Astruc was inspired to create Miraculous Ladybug from a girl wearing a ladybug t-shirt, first drawing her on Post-It notes. He prefers to work on shows with women as main characters, since he believes that they have more creative potential.[1]
In 2022, Astruc announced that he would be working on a reboot of the Japanese manga and anime franchise Astro Boy. He cited the creator Osamu Tezuka as a key influence on his life and work.[2] However, he later stated that he withdrew from the series due to artistic disagreements.[3]
