Tradier, Inc. is a financial services and brokerage infrastructure company based in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. Founded in 2012, the company provides trading services for equities, options, and futures through a REST API, third-party integrated platforms, and direct-to-consumer applications.
The company operates a brokerage-as-a-service model through its APIs, enabling external trading platforms, financial technology firms, and educational tools to integrate brokerage and trading functions. Its primary products include Tradier Web, Tradier Pro (formerly TradeHawk), Tradier Mobile, and Tradier AP.
History
[edit]2012-2013: Founding and Infrastructure Launch
[edit]Tradier was founded in August 2012 by Dan Raju, Peter Laptewicz, Jason Barry, Jeyashree Chidambaram, and Steve Agalloco. The company began as a brokerage infrastructure provider focused on API-based solutions for fintech platforms. Its main product, the Tradier API, was launched in 2013 to provide third-party platforms with real-time market data, account management, and trading access to U.S. equity and options markets.
In 2013, Tradier formed partnerships with ETNA Software and NASDAQ OMX FinQloud, hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), to support brokerage operations on the cloud. Later that year, Tradier established Tradier Brokerage, Inc., allowing it to offer online brokerage services directly to consumers.
2014-2015: Platform Growth and Integrations
[edit]In 2014, the company secured Series A funding led by Devonshire Investors (F-Prime), affiliated with Fidelity Investments. During this period, Tradier integrated with trading and analytics platforms such as eSignal, OptionVue, MotiveWave, and Quantcha.
By 2015, multiple fintech platforms had adopted the Tradier API. The company expanded partnerships with Option Samurai and Global AutoTrading and transitioned its clearing operations to APEX Clearing.
2020-Present: Platform Expansion and Retail Innovation
[edit]From 2020 onward, Tradier broadened its focus beyond developer infrastructure to include retail trading platforms. That year, the company launched Dash, a browser-based trading platform for equities and options. In 2021, it introduced Tradier Mobile for iOS and Android devices.
In 2022, Tradier rebranded its advanced trading platform TradeHawk as Tradier Pro, designed for active traders and offering multi-leg options trading, charting tools, and real-time risk analytics. In the same year, the company launched Tradier Futures, expanding access to futures markets within its trading ecosystem.
In 2023, Tradier raised $24.6 million in Series B funding led by PEAK6 Strategic Capital, with participation from F-Prime Capital and KF Business Ventures. The funding was allocated to technology development, retail product growth, and international expansion.[1][2]
As of 2025, Tradier’s infrastructure supports more than 100 third-party trading platforms.[1][2]
Business model and pricing
[edit]Tradier operates a subscription-based brokerage model, differing from commission-based or spread-based structures used by traditional brokers. Instead of per-trade fees, the company offers flat-rate monthly subscription plans aimed at providing cost predictability for active and options traders.
This model has been adopted by algorithmic traders, educational firms, and third-party trading platforms seeking scalable pricing. The company’s REST API allows partners and developers to integrate account management, order routing, and data access functionalities into their platforms.
