Truth Serum is a solo album by Garland Jeffreys. It was released in 2013 on the Luna Park/30 Tigers label, self-produced by Jeffreys with James Maddock, and is the "second in a trio of late career gems".[3]
Reception
editOn AllMusic, Mark Deming called it a "straightforward and tightly focused set... Jeffreys' voice is warm, passionate, and a joy to hear".[1] American Songwriter noted that the "performances... are vibrant, fresh and invigorating" over "a great backing band of NYC veterans...[Jeffreys] infuses these songs with a righteousness and passion often lacking in today’s music".[2] Due to self-release on own-label, Truth Serum went sadly unreviewed by many industry outlets, despite the success and plaudits for its 2011 predecessor The King of In Between.
