Tyler Ray is a Canadian fitness coach, entrepreneur, and expert in vertical jump training.
Early Life and Education
editTyler is based in Harrow, Ontario, with his journey in the fitness industry spanning over 20 years. He developed a passion for fitness and athletics at an early age. He attended the University of Windsor, where he became a multi-event athlete on the university’s Track and Field team and secured three National Championship victories.
Tyler earned a Master’s degree and became certified as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He also owns a personal record of a 48-inch vertical jump as a professional dunker.
Career
editTyler's coaching career began in commercial gyms, where he gained experience working with different types of clients. His time in these larger, corporate gym settings allowed him to enhance his coaching skills, develop an understanding of client needs, and increase his fitness knowledge. Despite the lessons learned in these settings, Tyler wanted to create a more personal and specialized environment for training.
With a goal for a personalized training experience, Tyler left commercial gyms and began the process of building his own private training spaces. His first makeshift gym was set up in a bedroom, equipped with basic fitness gear like a wooden platform and squat rack. Over time, this modest setup evolved into a 350-square-foot detached garage, offering more space and attracting a growing client base.[1]
Tyler eventually acquired land in Lake Erie in Ontario, where he constructed his own fitness facility.[2]He designed this private gym to provide a premium fitness experience. After founding his private gym, he expanded his business by developing a niche certification program for vertical jump training coaches. He leveraged popular social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram to share his program globally. [3]Following this strategy, he secured global recognition and leads a network of over 150 certified jump technique coaches today.
