UWSP Cheerleading
The UWSP cheer[1] is located at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. The team consists of both male and female athletes all at different levels of athleticism and skill. The team compete around the US in Florida and Tennessee and hold multiple titles. Whilst also competing, the team dedicate an hour of there time every week to cheer and teach a special needs team called the Wisconsin Extreme Dream Team. They also dedicate 10 Friday night at the beginning of the Fall semester to going around Wisconsin and cheering with High School cheer teams at their football games.[2]
Head Coach Sue Poeschl And Susan Becker coach the team along with the help of Julie and Jess Pankow. Given that cheerleading still isn't considered a sport in most schools across the US and in the NCAA, the team don't receive allocated school funding and mostly fundraise for their competition fees, uniforms, and clothing.
