Uptown is a commercial district in New Westminster, British Columbia. It is also informally known as Royal City Centre, after a nearby shopping mall of the same name, and 6th and 6th, after the area's most prominent intersection at sixth street and sixth avenue.
Location
editUptown New Westminster is located near the geographic centre of the city, at approximately 106 metres above the Fraser River shore. It is accessible by a variety of bus routes that travel along sixth street, eighth street, sixth avenue, and eighth avenue. It is also accessible by the Crosstown Greenway, a cycling and pedestrian route that links with the BC Parkway and the Central Valley Greenway. Uptown is not an official residential neighbourhood of the city, but an urban centre that overlaps the Brow of the Hill, Glenbrooke North, Moody Park, and Queen's Park neighbourhoods.
