Vacaville's Initial History
editVacaville has been in existence since December 13, 1851, when the township was first recorded.[1] Vacaville was for many years known for its agricultural production, especially in the fruit industry. The fruit industry in Vacaville became well known in the 1880's with the establishment of the California Fruit Shipping Association, the Vacaville Fruit Company, the L.W. and F.H. Buck Company, and other fruit companies. [2] Vacaville quickly became known as one the best fruit producers in the country, and was an attractive place for Japanese and Chinese immigrants who were arriving in the state during this same time period.[3]
