Wajja Victor known professionally as Victor Ruz is a Ugandan singer and songwriter known for doing love songs. He mainly does RnB, Afropop and Afrobeat.[1] His smooth vocals and lyrical abilities have made him stand out in a short period of time as an artist.
Biography
editVictor Ruz was born in 2000, in Mayuge, in the Eastern part of Uganda. He went to Peterson P/S, Kyoga SS for primary and Joined Mehta SS For His High School. In 2021 enrolled at Victoria University for a Bachelors in Social Works and Social Administration.[2] His love for music later dragged him into the music industry, kicking off his career with Love Legend in 2019.[3]
Career
editVictor Ruz always had passion for music even as a kid. He was inspired by his mother who always thought he had a unique talent in him.[4] He would not miss out on any events and performances around him.
In July 2019 he got into mainstream music with the release of his first song "Love legend" which received good reception especially by the love music fans.
This was followed up by other songs like; Kikomando, Ndeese Love, Official,[5] and Rebecca.[6]
In 2021, amid a heated election period for the Speakership of the Parliament of Uganda, Victor Ruz released a song; Rebecca[7] for the then reigning Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga after she had been dropped as a flag bearer by her political party, and she chose to run as an independent candidate.[8]
In 2021 after releasing the single "Official", Victor Ruz announced the closure of his introductory episode into the music industry and announced the genesis of his next episode where he made it clear that his fans would be in charge of their brand. He proved this when he gave them an opportunity to decide which of the two songs Tattoo and Wansala would drop first. The latter took it home and he therefore dropped it on 16 July 2021.[9][10][11][12]
In November he released a single "Ogeza" which sealed off his 2021 musical year. The song was produced by Tanzanian producer Bob Manecky.
Rebrand
editIn November 2021, Victor Ruz shocked his fans when he posted photos of him without the dreadlocks that he had before. He explained this as a rebrand he took for the betterment of his career.[13]
Personal life
editVictor Ruz is currently not in a relationship with anyone. In 2020, he was said to be dating fellow singer Vivian Tendo,[14][15] a thing both artists said wasn't true. He later came out and confessed his love for singer Desire Luzinda's daughter Michelle.[16]
