- Comment: I don't see any proof of independent notability here--meaning, no secondary sources at all. And if such sources appear, it is better to write it up as a section in Victoria Vikes. Also, this needs proofreading, and unencyclopedic content, like that inscrutable last paragraph, needs to be culled or improved. Drmies (talk) 20:21, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
Victoria Vikes Women's Rugby is a U Sports women's Rugby union program based in Victoria, British Columbia. The growth and success of Vikes Women's Rugby and the accomplishments of its players and coaches are frequently reported on by local, Provincial, and National news organizations. [1] [2] [3] [4]
The Vikes current coach, Brittany Waters, was inducted into the Rugby Canada Hall of Fame in 2019.[5]
The Vikes women select a 40+ player squad [6] and compete with a single team in a 5 to 6 match regular season in the Canada West Universities Athletic Association, followed by a 2 to 3 match U Sports women's rugby championship. These total 7 to 9 matches occur between September and November. [7] [8]
Many of the Vikes women augment their playing experience by also playing for nearby clubs Westshore RFC and Castaway Wanderers RFC, during an overlapping 13 to 16 match season running October to May. [9] [10] A smaller 20+ member squad of Vikes women extend their playing by participating in Canada West and U Sports Rugby sevens running February to April.
