Draft:Vinárstvo TAJNA

TAJNA or Tajna Vineyards & Winery is s Slovak boutique winery located in the Nitra wine region and Vráble wine district. This family-owned boutique winery with organic production owns 25ha of organic vineyards.

The company is headquartered in the village of Tajná, where the tradition of grape growing dates back to the 12th century.

TAJNA focuses on traditional historic varieties such as Welschriesling, Pinot Blanc, Traminer, or more internatinally know varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot or Semillon.

The first known owner of vineyards in the vicinity of the winery was Ján Tajnai, the county governor of Tekov, who built a manor house in the village of Tajná in 1840. After his death, the estate in Tajná passed to the important Hungarian noble family of the Révay family. Count Šimon Révay, the president of the Hungarian government, owned vineyards on the same wine plot called "Sari" where the winery's vineyards are today.

The noble family of the Révay family made a significant contribution to the development of viticulture in this region. The Count planted mainly Othello and Blue Portugal varieties, which he processed. However, he used the finished wine to make brandy.

A closer history of vineyards in this location was made by the Mier Vráble Agricultural Cooperative, which took over the vineyards from the noble family, planting the varieties of Riesling Vlašský, Veltlín zelený and Traminer.

Due to the poor condition and inappropriate orientation of the vineyards, after the purchase in 2008 the Demeš family decided to prepare the land for planting a new vineyard. And so we began a new history of Tajna, under the wine brand TAJNA.
