Early life and education

Vlad Panchenko was born in Kyiv, Ukraine.[4] He began his career in the gaming industry at the age of 16, working on video game translation projects.[5] In 2009, he earned a Master's degree in History from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.[6][7]

Career

edit

Panchenko's professional journey commenced in 2005 as a Director at Megasport. He later worked as a producer at Megadrive from 2009 to 2012 and founded the software company Suntechsoft in 2008.[8][9][2] In 2014, he launched Global Games, a digital game distribution platform.[10][11]

In 2016, Panchenko established Skins.Cash, an online marketplace for trading in-game items.[10][11][2]

Panchenko co-founded DMarket in 2017, a blockchain-based marketplace for virtual gaming assets,[9][11][12][6][13][14] which raised over $19 million during two Initial Coin Offering (ICO) rounds in that same year.[15][16][17][18][19][20] In 2022, Mythical Games acquired DMarket, and Panchenko joined its executive team.[5][21][4][22]

In 2023, he co-founded Portal.ai, which raised $5 million in pre-seed funding in 2024.[23][24][25]

Panchenko also worked as a producer for the films Oleksandr Usyk: Undisputed (2018) and Papachenko (2020).

Humanitarian efforts

edit

In early 2022, Panchenko relocated over 100 employees and their families to Montenegro amid security concerns in Ukraine.[22] Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he halted DMarket operations in Russia and Belarus.[26][27][28][29] He has participated in fundraising initiatives that raised $17.5 million for humanitarian aid in Ukraine.[30]
