Founded in 2010,[1] Waypoint Entertainment is a full-service production company[2] led by co-founder and President Ken Kao.[3][4]
History
editProduction company Waypoint Entertainment[2] was founded in 2010 to offer creative and financial support to filmmakers.[1] Filmmaker and Waypoint Entertainment co-founder Ken Kao serves as the President.[3]
Waypoint’s first film was the 2011 crime drama, Rampart, starring Woody Harrelson.[5] In 2015, Waypoint produced Knight of Cups with Terrence Malick.[6]
The following year, they produced the crime comedy The Nice Guys, starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling,[2] and Silence, directed by Martin Scorsese.[7]
In 2017, Waypoint also produced Lost in London, written and directed by, and starring Woody Harrelson. Lost in London was reportedly the first movie to ever be filmed in real time and broadcast live into theatres.[8][9]
In 2018, Waypoint produced The Favourite, starring Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, and Olivia Colman,[10] who won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance. [11]
Waypoint partnered with indie-studio NEON in 2024[3] to produce independent films across several genres in the over $10 million range. Waypoint and Neon first worked together on the horror films Cuckoo[2] and Longlegs[12]. That same year, Josh Rosenbaum was promoted to partner of Waypoint.[1]
