WeTalkSound (abbreviated as WTS) is a Nigeria 360 creative company, focused on Media and Content, Creative agency, Events, Label Services, and Merchandise. The company was formed as a music community in 2016 by Dolapo Amusat[1] and is known as the biggest music community in Nigeria.[2][3] Its divisions include WeTalkSound Agency, WeTalkSound Label, and WeTalkSound Visuals.

The media describes WeTalkSound as a leading voice in documenting Afrobeats and pop culture.

History

WeTalkSound was established in 2016 as a music community by Dolapo Amusat, a member of The Recording Academy.[4] In 2019, the music community began operating as a 360 creative company. On 14 February 2021, WTS released its fourth compilation album titled Lofn 4: A Collection of Love Stories and was released independently. The project received generally favorable reviews from critics like Motolani Alake,[5] and it was included on the list of 10 Nigerian music albums to add to your playlist by NotJustOk.[6] On 21 March 2021, WeTalkSound and TurnTable charts announced a joint partnership as they launched a music certification service in Nigeria, known as the Recording Certification of Nigeria.[7][8]

On 31 March 2021, WeTalkSound music community introduced Insert Nights (stylized as <Insert> Nights),[9] a monthly event for connecting with the music community in Lagos. On 16 January 2024, WTS launched WTS Lifestyle and introduced its streetwear collection.[10] On 13 March 2024, WeTalkSound in partnership with IN Nollywood, released a 5-part documentary series titled "Sound of Nollywood",[11] with the aim to amplify the voices and achievements of film composers who are reshaping Nollywood today. On 23 March 2024, WTS held a private screening of the documentary at the British Council in Ikoyi.[11] On 9 October 2024, WeTalkSound, and Trace Naija partner to amplify Afrobeats content.[12]

In 2019, the music community launched a creative agency, marketed as WeTalkSound Agency, which is a full-blown creative company that provides solutions to brands through crafting innovative campaigns to achieve their marketing and brand goals. It agency clients includes: Bolt, The Aristokrat Group, ONErpm, Boomplay, Audiomack, and EMPIRE. WTS Agency's notable PR projects and campaigns include the rebranding of Davido's record label DMW 2.0 version and the unveiling of its new signees. The agency also designed and developed microsites for various Bolt campaigns, including "Bolt Chews Wisely", "#GratefulForEveryMile", "#smarterwithbolt", and "#MYPVCJOURNEY".[13]

  • Joeboy's 2023 hit singles "Body & Soul", "Duffel Bag" and his second studio album Body & Soul
  • RIA SEAN's debut extended play Fluid
  • Reminisce's debut extended play Vibes & Insha Allah
  • Basketmouth's studio album Horoscope
  • Bad Boy Timz's single "I Salute" with Zlatan
  • Teni's single "Billionaire"
  • Victony's single "Soweto (remixes)" with Rema, Don Toliver, and Tempoe.

In 2023, WTS launched an artist and label service division, marketed as WeTalkSound Label.[14]

In 2023, WTS established a visual studio for film production and photography, known as WeTalkSound Visuals.[15]
