Wei Ren (simplified Chinese: 任伟;born in China in 1978）is a national zisha clay arts and crafts master . As a
master of ceramic art, she has created many masterpieces of ceramic art.
In 2018, Wei Ren was awarded the title of Liaoning Province Ceramic Art Master by the Liaoning Provincial Government[1] of China[2].
Wei Ren's artworks have been collected by many famous museums, including the National Museum of China[3].
Early life and education
editWei Ren was born in Yixing, a city in Jiangsu Province[4], China. Her family is famous for its pottery crafts background. Her grandfather Degui Ren is a ceramic artist. Her father,Hongxi Ren,is also a ceramic artist.
When she was a child, she lived in Dingshu Town, Yixing[5], her hometown, where her family has lived for more than 160 years.Her father was obsessed with creating pottery and was influenced by the family spirit. Wei was also influenced by this and said: I only want to do one thing in my life - pottery."
When she was young, Wei entered China University of Geosciences [6]to study art design.
Career
editWei's career as an artist began with her work, Confucian elegance[7], which was collected by Wuxi Museum[8]in 1995.
In 2018, Wei was awarded the title of Liaoning Province Ceramic Art Master by the Liaoning Provincial Government[1] of China.
Wei released her collection "lian ni[9]" in 2020.
In 2021, Wei's work "Flower Language Pot[10]" was published in Shandong Ceramics[11] Books. In the same year, Shandong Ceramics[11] published an article about Wei's work "Jinwu Xianrui Pot"
Wei Ren's work "Shipiao" was collected by the National Museum of China[3] in 2022.
In 2024, the Changzhou Art Museum in China held an art exhibition for Wei Ren titled "Blooming Flowers", displaying her 12 works of art[12].
Awards and recognition
editIn 1995, Wei Ren's works of Confucian elegance[7] were collected by Wuxi Museum[8] in China.
Weiren's work was awarded the Jin Fu Cup Gold Award by the Jiangsu Provincial Arts and Crafts Association[13] in 2014.
In 2017, Weiren's artwork "A Rich Harvest" was awarded the Gold Award by Jiangxi Provincial Arts and Crafts Association[14].
In 2018, Wei was awarded the title of Liaoning Province Ceramic Art Master by the Liaoning Provincial Government[1] of China.
Wei Ren's work "Bamboo" was awarded the Gold Award by the Jiangsu Provincial Ceramic Industry Association[15] in the 2020 Pottery City Cup competition.
In 2021, Wei Ren's work "Elegant Charm" was collected by the Yunnan Provincial Museum of China[16].
In 2021, Wei Ren's work "Antique Ruyi" was awarded the gold medal by the Jiangsu Provincial Ceramic Industry Association of China[15].
Weiren's work "Melon Rhythm" was collected by the School of Art, Nanjing University[17], Jiangsu Province, China in 2022.
Wei Ren's work "Shipiao" was collected by the National Museum of China [3]in 2022.
