Willy de Hond ( Eindhoven , February 25, 1940 - Panningen , November 8, 1983 ) was a Dutch professional footballer who played for PSV and NEC .

De Hond was a reserve goalkeeper at PSV and played several matches in the Eredivisie in that capacity . At the age of 21, he was taken over by NEC as the successor to Theo Jansen . De Hond was small and therefore vulnerable when hitting high balls. As a result, many goals were conceded from corner kicks or after high crosses. He did manage to save many penalties . In February 1962 he dropped out of the starting line-up, but in the three following seasons he was the regular goalkeeper again. In 1965, Dick Wennink and reserve goalkeeper Jo Sip were given preference, but towards the end of the competition, trainer Jan Remmers De Hond deployed again. After this he refused to sign a new contract and demanded a higher salary.

After NEC did not respond to his demands, De Hond decided to play first division SV Panningen . The KNVB suspected that he was paid for this by the amateur club and banned him from playing amateur football, but in the 1967-1968 season the suspicion disappeared and De Hond was able to play another seven seasons. He had now moved with his family to Panningen.
