Comment: I think that having one independent in-depth source (TechCrunch, and debatable reliablity as well looking at the list of reliable sources- Tech Crunch is less useful to establish notability but rather verifiability Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Perennial_sources#TechCrunch and there is no guarantee that this piece is not biased, especially considering the positive spin being given) is not good enough to establish notability. The current level of coverage is not enough to pass WP:NCORP as in the previous rejection. I would suggest waiting for a couple of years- these start ups can get more notable. Yorba is a cloud-based platform dedicated to simplifying digital footprint management. The service scans inboxes and accounts made public and allows users to see all online accounts and email subscriptions associated with the email addresses they provided. The platform is ad-free.[1]
Established in 2022, Yorba is headquartered in Lisbon and New York and is registered as a Public-benefit corporation. The company was founded by Chris Zeunstrom (Founder of Ruca, a design cooperative), Nolan Cabaje (Co-Founder & Head of Design at Ruca design cooperative), and David Schmudde (Software Engineer, Educator and Researcher[2]).[3] In February 2024, it was named “Mint for uncluttering your entire digital life” by TechCrunch. As of April 2024, Yorba has 2.5K active users and has processed 110M emails through natural-language processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence models.
In May 2024, Yorba launched Delete Desk, a free database on how to delete accounts online containing 10.5K records.[5]
Features
editThe primary function of Yorba is to provide the general public with a means to manage their digital footprint. Users of the platform can connect their email addresses and payment methods and see a list of their online accounts across logins, mailing lists, and paid subscriptions. They can then close the unwanted accounts or eliminate unused subscriptions.[6] The platform also provides details about data breaches these emails have been involved in and offers Privacy Grades that show how vendors treat users’ data.
Along with detailing which accounts the emails have been associated with, the platform also offers weekly insight reports and active tracking of accounts.[7]
In order to secure users’ data, Mozilla lean data practices are followed and only necessary data is stored on Google Cloud, encrypted at the storage level using the AES256. Yorba integrates with Plaid Inc. to securely connect with users’ banks and review their recurring subscriptions.[8]
Collaborations
editYorba collaborates with Consumer Reports on advancing the Data Rights Protocol.[9] [10] The company uses Have I Been Pwned? deep database of active breaches and works closely with Terms of Service; Didn't Read to read and grade privacy policies and associate them to users’ accounts. It partnered with Solid (web decentralization project) to create consumer-first web3 storage data pods that interact like web2 profiles to allow their members to sign-on to a variety of platforms. [11] One of Yorba’s primary sources to enhance the data is Wikidata. [12]
