Youcef Gamouh (Arabic: يوسف قموح; born 4 October 1987) is an Algerian football referee. He has been officiating in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 since 2017 and a full international referee for FIFA since 2022.
Refereeing career
[edit]Gamouh began his refereeing career in regional development panels in eastern Algeria before being promoted to the top-tier Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 during the 2017–18 season.[1]
In 2022, Gamouh was officially listed on the FIFA International Referees List, allowing him to oversee matches organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA.[2]
In January 2023, Gamouh was selected by CAF to officiate at the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) held in his home country, Aljazair. He refereed the opening group stage fixture between Ethiopia and Mozambique.[3]
In January 2024, Gamouh made his debut at the flagship continental tournament, the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast. On 21 January 2024, he refereed the high-profile Group F match between Morocco and DR Congo in San Pédro, managing a intensely competitive 1–1 draw with high tactical physical play.[4]
In domestic football, Gamouh is regularly appointed to lead high-stakes fixtures in Algerian Ligue 1, including rivalry matches involving major clubs such as MC Alger, CR Belouizdad, and JS Kabylie.
Personal life
[edit]Gamouh was born and raised in Constantine. Outside of his refereeing duties, he actively participates in physical education training and local youth sports development within the Constantine province.
