Comics

edit

Do we really not think that chris Sims deserves a page of his own? I mean, he's easily the funniest of all dudes who write about comics and the like on the internet for money.

He's also a comic writer himself published in mainstream books (like the recent Super Street Fighter anthology) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.71.224.238 (talk) 07:49, 10 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

The Comics Alliance writer Chris Sims has identified himself as being a different person from the game designer, so he would get a separate article if anything. 24.12.74.21 (talk) 18:31, 10 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Clean-up

edit

Hope that Chris S. Sims WP article doesn't get deleted. He is definitely notable in the gaming scene, he worked on NYT bestselling books. I added awards and references. Will continue digging for online references. ____ K-pachs (talk) 12:59, 16 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, K-pachs! 2600:1700:E820:1BA0:D6B:FAB0:CF1E:3FC6 (talk) 04:19, 17 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Simulating War: Studying Conflict through Simulation Games

edit

Its odd but the google books edition does not throw up his name when you search it, can we have a quote please?Slatersteven (talk) 09:44, 27 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ah, that's the link that Normosphere added. I'm trying to find the reference myself. In any case, I suspect it's not "our" Chris Sims, but Chris Sims (the economist), cause he did work in the field of war/economics.
Related question: Is this by "our" Chris Sims? Interstellarpoliceman (talk) 13:05, 27 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ablinger, Franz: Homecomputer

edit

I can find no mention of Sims, on page 120 (And an ctrl f does not find an instance of his name). Maybe it is the wrong work called homecomoputer, is it this one [[1]]?.Slatersteven (talk) 09:55, 27 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Its a PHD thesis, its not a series of reports, or yearly reports or anything like that. Written once, by Franz Ablinger. I've searched on multiple terms and cant find any mention of Sims, nor the chapter header, nor terms in the chapter heading, nor the game. scope_creep (talk) 10:22, 27 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
So to whoever included it, can you provide us with a quote?Slatersteven (talk) 10:28, 27 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Interstellarpoliceman: Can you please address this. The Franz Ablinger Phd thesis doesnt seem to contain the reference you posted. scope_creep (talk) 10:41, 27 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Oh, it seems there is a difference in the print version I found at Subotron and the online version you refer to. The print version also has a different page count (print version is roughly 20 pages longer). I will remove the reference until I can find an explantion for it. The following link is broken, given the age of the article this is not good.

Third party cites

edit

Nasty whiff of WP:CITEKILL here, as most of the sources seem to be massively primary and just show what he worked on. It is not volume of sources, it is quality that matters.Slatersteven (talk) 08:36, 28 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

You would think that, but it seems to be a different reality here. I go away and come back and there is more dodgy references. The Afd seems to be taking a wee bit of time as well. Hope today, all this will dissapear. scope_creep (talk) 09:04, 28 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

WSJ best seller list.

edit

We need a better source for this claim. We need a date (not just the year, as I cannot find where they do just a yearly list, they appear to be by week).Slatersteven (talk) 12:06, 28 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Museum quarter

What is an artist in residence, is it an award, what does it signify? A certain SF writer used to sit in a shop window writing, that did not make him notable.Slatersteven (talk) 12:31, 28 April 2018 (UTC) Indeed what is the MQ? (note what do RS call it, not what do we call it)Slatersteven (talk) 13:32, 28 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

MQ is one of the top tourist destinations (art, culture) in Vienna. Google it. There is a shitton of info about it. Its artist-in-residence program is internationally acclaimed. I sense a "this can't be art!" attitude concerning Sims' work, and I honestly don't think this is the right way to discuss such a topic. The fact that he got invited to Vienna, got paid for it, and created art is important and notable. (I want to be transparent about this: I am a volunteer at Q21, I mention this on my user page, but I am not being paid for any of this, no COI.) Interstellarpoliceman (talk) 15:47, 28 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
If it was RS would have noticed it (and yes that does mean there is a COI (see wp:coi). as for the rest, it does not matter what you think our motives are, what matters is policy. Comment on content, and not users motives.Slatersteven (talk) 16:01, 28 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Oh boy, I had the same debate with scope_creep just recently about my contributions to Sophia Cacciola, and we found an understanding. Please see my talk page. I am not paid, don't know any of the AiRs personally, it is just my area of expertise. I want to improve articles that are related to art and culture in Vienna.
