Draft: Notability

edit

[The author posted the following message on my Talk page in response to my Comment on the draft, and so I am posting it here, along with my reply, for transparency/ease of access etc]

As suggested, I have added more references. Also I confirm that I am linked to the IAHE as I work on Hydrogen and part of the Board of Directors of IAHE. I also confirm that I do NOT get paid to do this and for the being part of the IAHE. I am volunteering to the IAHE. Many thanks. Kind regards, Prof. Dr. Bruno G. Pollet Sunday 21 July 2024. @Bgpollet: Thanks for your reply. :Firstly thank you for declaring your conflict of interest, but please note that you must declare on your Talk page (to see instructions on how to do this please click the link).
Secondly, you have deleted important material from the Draft (including my Comment) so I have reverted the page back to how it was before your deletions. Please feel free to add the references to the draft but do NOT remove the Comments and Draft information at the top of the page.
As I suggested in my comment, it would help our volunteer reviewers by identifying, on the draft's talk page, the WP:THREE best sources that establish notability of the subject. As I said, the draft may potentially meet the relevant requirements (including WP:GNG, WP:NCORP) but presently it is not clear that it does. Cabrils (talk) 06:14, 22 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of Interest Disclosure

edit

I, Bruno G. Pollet, work on hydrogen and am a member of the IAHE Board of Directors. I confirm that I am not paid to create this IAHE Wikipedia page and that my role as a member of the IAHE Board of Directors is voluntary.

Thank you for this @Bruno G Pollet, but, as I have previously explained, you need to make this declaration on your Talk page: to see instructions on how to do this please click conflict of interest. Thanks Cabrils (talk) 00:02, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Cabrils - Thank you. I have added it on my talk page.

@Bruno G Pollet I'm not seeing anything there? Please double check and follow the instructions at WP:DISCLOSE (you may want to use the Userbox "UserboxCOI" from those instructions). Cabrils (talk) 02:59, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for this @Bruno G Pollet. As I explained in my comments on the draft, reliable sources (as defined) are required to establish the notability of the organisation. Those sources need to be added to the draft, not simply listed here in the Talk page.
Further, such sources need to evidence the notability of the organisation. You have not provided any content or reasoning as to why these three sources establish notability. What and where in these three sources establish WP:GNG, WP:NCORP etc?
I'm in no doubt that IAHE is a reputable and genuine association, but to justify an entry in Wikipedia requires meeting (at least) WP:GNG and WP:NCORP. I'm also sure reliable sources would exist, and possibly the three you are suggesting will be appropriate, but, as I suggested, you need to provide reasoning and specific reference to the content of each source that should how they establish the notability of IAHE. @Cabrils - Thank you - I have added reliable sources that demonstrate that the IAHE is a reputable and genuine association.

@Bruno G Pollet could you kindly provide reasoning of the WP:THREE? For example, the third source is simply an announcement of the conference and is WP:ROTM. The source does not meet WP:ORGCRIT: "A company, corporation, organization, group, product, or service is presumed notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject. ". Again, I feel you are assuming the Association is notable and have not yet properly read and understood the criteria for entry into Wikipedia. The Association may be notable but the current sources, in my view, do not yet establish that notability per the criteria. Cabrils (talk) 03:10, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
